Doggie Daycare is a great way for your dog to come and enjoy the company of other peer dogs in a fun and exciting environment while you are at work or out for the day. We put our 2-legged children in daycare and see the benefits of their socialization skills, why not our 4-legged children? We take our 2-legged children to daycare and are relieved when they have their needs met for socialization, daily rest time and then are more content when they get home and yes…sleep well that night. Why should it be different with our 4-legged family members? Dogs are herd driven pack animals and need to be with other dogs. The benefits of daycare are endless.
Dogs need to be active and have a job so to speak. We buy a particular breed without always giving a lot of thought to the job the dog has been bred to do. Well it is in him to work, and not having a whole lot of opportunity to do so will lead to destructive behaviors such as barking, digging, chewing furniture, heeling the family cat or even the younger children, aggression and a handful of other unpleasant results. Some studies have shown that up to 90% of a dog’s behavioral problems are exercise related. Can you imagine being penned up in a crate, small kennel area or a house with the same 4 walls everyday? We get home from our workday and want to relax because we have been working. They are grabbing the ball, Frisbee, leash and wanting to go, go, go! I am not excluding the importance of you and your dog’s one on one time and daily walks etc... Just want to add the benefits of the extra curricular activity he so thrives and has the well deserved home pack time he needs. I also want you to not worry about ‘running his hind end off’ just so the household can get their well deserved rest quota.
I may accept unaltered male dogs for a first visit for the fact you should wait a certain amount of time to get him neutered. If you have decided for your own reasons why he will not be neutered I will welcome him until nature’s window lets him discover he is now a full adult. This means he has passed that golden window of opportunity and has now become too testosterone driven. Most of our clients realize they want their dog to be here and so know in order to deal with these unfortunate problems they will either have to be charged more for future stays, he will not enjoy as much free play or I have to excuse him from the facility altogether. Unaltered male dogs bring testosterone with them and with that comes dominance issues which are not conducive to play. I try very hard to give all dogs a fun experience here. That is not so easily done when nature takes over and gets in the way of a dog’s ability to read cues from other dogs that play is play, too rough, or play is over. Please see 'Arguments on neutering.doc'
- As owners you want a happy, healthy dog, a fun place to take them, a place to spoil them, and a guilt free place to leave them attended.
- Socialization – You want to be able to say “My dog plays well with others.” You want a friendly, well rounded dog that can be taken virtually anywhere. Playing with Fido next door is great but that does not necessarily teach a dog how to interact with others who may have radically different personalities or play styles.
- Proper exercise – a tired dog is a happy and healthy dog. He will have fewer vet bills and the dog will live longer in better health.
- Prevention from boredom and home-alone behaviors, short term management for separation stress or anxiety.
- Everyone needs a break from the work of a puppy or exuberant dog!

Here at the facility I offer peer groups throughout the day to get your dog involved with different play options, socialization, and the all needed release of energy we all need to have.
During all the months of the year, they have almost 2 acres to play and interact in. The 3 largest yards are long enough to launch a ‘Chuckit’ ball. That shows you the immense distance they have to stretch their legs that few other facilities offer. Within these yards I provide ball throwing, Frisbee games, the pool (weather permitting) and just plain old one on one with whoever needs some TLC at the moment. It is comical to watch the Retriever breeds run for the ball and the Shepherd/Heeler types run after them. Every dog has a job; I love to give them the opportunity to express it in their own unique way. Our new treadmill is a great way to burn off some extra energy and get your dog in tip top shape and condition.
My Daycare dogs are treated the same as the boarding dogs so you will also want to click into A Typical Day… for more information on what your pooch will be doing here.
